Discussion Questions
Discussion questions are suggestions to start and guide the conversation. The topics may vary based on attendee questions and comments.
Kimiko Does Menopause
- How does it visualize different experiences of Hot Flashes?
- What are the benefits to this being so informational and straightforward? Drawbacks?
When the Menopause Carnival Comes to Town
- Who is the main character: the mom or the daughter? Which one are we meant to identify with? Why?
- What do you think of the conclusion of this story? Is it ironic or too much to call it a “Freak Show”?
(A) Men-O-Pause
- How does this comic visualize connecting the human experience to the environment? Why might this be important in a medical context?
- What is your opinion of the following quotation and its framing device? "Mother Earth spoke: Take the men out of menopause, out of menstruation, menarche and all the myriad ways we had let our bodies be colonized"
