Children's Books

Children's books can be fantastic resources for school counselors working with young children. Children's books can:

  • help children find comfort
  • help children explore their emotions
  • help children find the vocabulary to describe emotions in the future
  • help children put into words or pictures what they are feeling but aren't able to express yet
  • help children engage with feelings from a distance - it might be easier to talk about how a character feels than their own feelings

Below is a selection of print books available in the Children's Literature Collection on the 4th floor of the Chester Fritz Library. Hover the mouse over the title for a descripotion of the book and click on the title to be taken to the listing in the catalog where you can find more information, such as location and call number.

If you need help to find additional print books, send an email to the subject librarian or ask a librarian around the clock using the Ask Us 24/7 chat service.

For additional children's books on a variety of topics & genres, check out the Children's Literature Research Guide!
