The specific questions and methods of appraising a research study depend on the type of study conducted. For in-depth information about appraising each type (i.e. therapy, diagnosis, etc.), the Users' Guide to the Medical Literature is a wonderful tool. A number of organizations have also provided critical appraisal "worksheets" to guide a reader through questions and calculations to determine the quality of the study.
