A simple 5 paragraph essay may take quite a bit longer than 30 minutes if you add in time for research, editing, and proofreading; however, the organizational tips in this tutorial may be quite helpful. Research papers are usually longer than 5 essay paragraphs, and they will take longer than 30 minutes. Ask your teacher for the page requirements. Research papers requiring extra time for library research should be started at least 2 weeks before they are due. The topic statement may appear anywhere within the introductory paragraph and should be reworded slightly within the concluding paragraph.
