Services for Quarantined Students

Provides information on library resources and services available for students in quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19.

Physical Books

To access physical books at the Chester Fritz Library:

  • Go to the Library's Web Site and start typing a topic in the Library Search box
  • Select "in Books, Media and More" from the drop-down options
  • You can use the Advanced Search to limit by material type "Books" and search by "Subject"
  • When you see a title of interest, click on the "Available at Chester Fritz Library" line with the call number in parenthesis.
  • There are two options for getting your items while in quarantine
    • Place a Hold and Pick It Up  (when the library has a copy of the book)
      • You will see an option for "Get It" with an option to click on "Request" 
      • Fill out the information, (be sure to put "Lock & Charge" in the notes field) and submit.
      • A hold will be placed, someone will pull it, check it out to you, and place it in a locker on the main floor.
      • You will be emailed a code to access the locker - you can send someone to pick it up for you
    • Interlibrary Loan- ILL (when the library doesn't have a copy of the book)
      • Below the search bar, there are four boxes. Choose Interlibrary Loan, at the far right. 
      • If you have never used the service, you will need to activate your account. It will prompt you on what to do, using your NDUS account information.
      • Click on "Request an Item"

What should I do if I have books checked out?

  • You can renew your library materials on the Library's Web Site by logging into your library account.

Online Books

The Chester Fritz Library provides access to thousands of online books. To access them:

  • Go to the Library's Web Site and start typing a topic in the Library Search box
  • Select "in Books+" from the drop-down options
  • To limit your search results to EBOOKS, under "Availability," select "Available online"
  • You can use the Advanced Search to limit by material type "Books" and search by "Subject"
