Finding Articles (North Dakota Residents)

If you are a North Dakota resident, you may apply for a North Dakota State Library card. Once you receive your card, log in to these databases with your library card bar code (on back of card) and your password (often your last name).  3

NOTE: These databases also may be available at your local public library or by logging in to your library's website using your public library card. Contact your local librarian for more information.

Getting Other Full-Text Articles, Books, etc.

Contact Local Library

If free articles or books are not available as you search, contact your local public library or medical library to see what items may be available there or if free or low-cost interlibrary loan service is offered.


Contact North Dakota State Library

If items you need are not available locally, you may apply for a North Dakota State Library card and order items free of charge (North Dakota residents only).

If a fee is required to borrow an item, the State Library will ask for your permission before confirming the request.

     Request Book or Article (after you get library card)

  1. Go to Library's online catalog.
  2. Click on My Account at top right of screen.
  3. Click on Request ILL - Books or Request ILL - Articles link.
  4. Log in with bar code and password found on back of your library card.
  5. Fill in form and click on Go button when done.

     You will be notified to pick up items if you live in the Bismarck/Mandan area. Items are emailed or mailed to North Dakota residents living outside the Bismarck/Mandan area, and you must pay any return postage costs.
