Scholarly Communication: Publishing Strategies

Google Scholar

Create a profile using the "My Citations" link in Google Scholar. You can view who is citing your publications and your own citation metrics. If you make your profile public, it should appear in Google Scholar search results. Benefits include the ability to easily manage, or add and delete, your own publications

Why use Google Scholar?

  1. JCR and Scopus base metrics solely on the publications in their respective databases. In Google Scholar, you can collocate your publications to get a more holistic view of your research impact.
  2. Google Scholar will ‘suggest’ publications (journals, conference proceedings, dissertations, books and more) it believes you may have authored. You can add them to your profile or indicate that you are not the author.
