Information about Honorlock

While working at the Info Desk, you may receive a question about the new Honorlock proctor system.

Honorlock is UND's newest exam-proctoring solution. All students should be using this now unless they are from the College of Engineering and Mines, which still uses the previous ProctorU.

General Information

  • The system generally requires a full 360 room scan. A laptop or a computer with a moveable webcam would work. Knowledge Commons computers without an external webcam would NOT work.
  • Google Chrome is REQUIRED.

Testing Locations

Although the system states that it requires an isolated room with no one around, no background noises, no windows, well-lit area, etc., testing shows that the system is pretty lenient as of now.

Tested environments:

  • Info Desk - Open Area / Background noises / Talking sounds
    • Test OK
  • Fishbowl - Open Area / Quiet / Windows around / People around
    • Test OK
  • 2nd Floor Open Desk Area - Open Area / Quiet / Whiteboard in the background
    • Test OK
  • Study rooms - Isolated Area / Quiet
    • Test OK

It seems like most parts of the library would work just fine.

If someone asks for a place to take a proctored exam using Honorlock, the best bet is to check out the study rooms, if not, some isolated place like the private chairs or corners of the area.

Troubleshooting

Some common errors are listed below

  • Make sure Google Chrome is being used
  • Make sure blackboard.und.edu is being used. (blackboard.ndus.edu does not work)

For further issues, they can contact support@honorlock.com or UIT.
